Queer Comix History

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Rocky River Public Library
Auditorium

Event Details

While the stories of LGBTQ people were silenced in popular media for decades, they were drawn, preserved, and distributed in comix, creating an archive of history for queer people. Join Valentino Zullo, a PhD candidate in the Department of English at Kent State University, to learn the history of queer comix and characters, from the early underground comix to the popular superheroes Batwoman, Iceman, and America. This talk will also explore questions of representation and the many ways that queerness intersects with other identities.
